Kristopher went to the doctor today. His fever was gone, and he didn't cough the entire time waiting, or for the doctor. He also decided to be all wild and hyper in the room while I was trying to talk, which in turn made the little kids go nuts too. Before the doctor came in, I had all 3 sitting quiet as can be, perfect trip. I mentally was thanking god for such wonderful luck. Then that all hit....But we survived the appt. And everyone got stickers. Yay for stickers!
So, lungs sounded clear, and there was no found reason for his fever. Passed it off as probably just the cold that is going around, and instructed to go back on the singular for allergies. (we had just quit this a little over a week ago because we ran out, and I don't know if it really does any bit of good)
We get in the car and the coughing starts again. Back home, pretty constant coughing. Soundes pretty nasty, not like that dry annoying cough he had for a while. He ate soup and applesauce for lunch, and rested while the 2 little people napped. He decided he missed school, so we worked on the packet of reading homework for the rest of this week. We read a book and we did some spy puzzles. Then the kids got up and he was back to making them go wild and crazy again. Then all of a sudden he goes and lays on the couch. His lips were purple-ish and his face was getting all red again. Sure enough, motrin wore off and fever was back. 102.3. I called the doctor and the nurse put a note back for him, and in the meantime said to get more motrin in him, and if needed, a bath. So, I gave him the motrin. He rested. After no drop in 45 mins, I made him get a bath. That dropped things, and the doctor called back. He asked me to go out to the hospital and get a chest x-ray done just to be sure this hasn't settled again. Apparently he is high risk now since it's only been a month since we've been cleared. Chest x-ray appears to be normal, but we won't get the official reading till tomorrow. By the time we were home, he was hungry, fever was back to the 99's and he was acting more normal.
I'm hoping that by morning, he is back to normal and no fever. It's a big day at school and he is going to be so upset if he misses out. And Wednesday is even bigger day, and a t-ball game. Besides the fact that I kept him home today and he missed out on a few things, and then turned around and spent half the day bouncing off the walls. I really don't need a repeat of that. It's pretty exhausting and I'm kinda scared to see what summer is going to be like. The little kids really look up to him and he loves them just as much. It's cute, but I'm going to need a giant bottle of advil to survive the summer....

Weekend
I hope the mom's had a good mother's day yesterday.
For mother's day, I got a really cute card and hand print thing that Kristopher made in school. He spent the night at my parents house on Saturday night, and while there they got me a hanging flower planter that he picked several flowers for. He called me early to wish me a "Happy Valentines Day! Ohhhhh I mean mother's day!!! Opps!!" So funny.
So, we had most of the morning to ourselves since he was up there. We got up earlier than normal on a Sunday, and took a 2 hr walk thru the parks here and around town. It felt pretty good. I really wanted something bad and mega unhealthy for breakfast, but we came home and made some low fat wraps that ended up being pretty awesome. We ran to the greenhouse so I could pick up a nice flower for my mother, and then we went up to pick up Kristopher.
When we get there, he's just glued to the tv, and red faced. She said he wasn't eating much, and just sitting around. Uh oh....That is NEVER a good sign. The kid eats like a grown man, so him not hungry is our #1 sign. Add the just sitting around and alarms should be going off. Throw in the red face and ears and you know he's really sick. We got home and took his temp, and it was 102 under his arm. Not good. I gave him tylenol and he asked if he could watch a movie in bed. We set that up for him, and within 5 mins he was out cold. I let him nap a little and went to buy motrin. That always works best for him. When I got back, he was still asleep, but still warm. Woke him for a new temp, and he was wild and confused. Almost like night terror state, so we just got him uncovered and resting again. The fever had broke and he was soaked. He was still really out of it, so I left him sleep some more. He slept until around 7-7:30 last night. I went to check and he was just laying there all quiet, but awake. The temp was rising again, and he was a little hungry. I got him to eat a grahm cracker and take a bath, and still warm so gave him motrin.
He watched a movie and rested, and then fell asleep and slept all night. Again this morning, he is still warm and the temp is rising back up to almost 101. Frustrating!! And he has a pretty constant, nasty sounding cough. So, I am hoping to get through to the doctor as soon as they open today.
He's upset that he's home today, and this will make him lose out on the special pasta dinner they do for kids who don't miss more than 3 days. Today will put him at 3.5 days missed. He almost made it with pretty good attendance this year. And tomorrow they have a big field day/health fair event, and he's worried he will miss that. As long as we can get this fever to go away and stay away, he can go back to school. I hope he makes it back for the special day tomorrow.
So, the weekend wasn't too bad except for ending with a sick boy. I managed to stick to the diet pretty good, and get some really good exercise. I'm not weighing in till either Wednesday or Thursday. I hope to see at least a pound or 2 dropped. That will motivate me pretty good. Plus, the 2nd number will drop too, so that's always exciting and feels like more than just a small loss.

Friday review
I'm still surviving. It's REALLY hard to try to track every single thing. I loaded my fitness pal app on my phone, so that has made it kinda easier. And, you can add friends and support each other. So if you are trying to lose weight, or just lead a healthier lifestyle, check it out. I really like it.
Today I managed to stay just a few below the 1200 calorie mark. I also walked for the 2nd day in a row with the kids. We walked pretty steady for around half hour thru the park and to and from school. It helps that it's spring time. I also drank a TON of water today. I'm going to avoid the scale till Wednesday though. Weigh in only once a week.
Tomorrow Kristopher is going to spend the night with my parents. Since we moved, he makes this a pretty regular event. Once, sometimes twice a month. And if we get close to a full month, he gets highly upset and begs and pleads to go. It's been a little while, so I said it's fine for tomorrow. And, it's the first weekend since fall that it's going to be nice, warm and he can be out to play. I know he misses that. While he is gone, I'm going to catch up on some projects around here, and hopefully go out with my husband for some kind of adventure. We use to go around just to discover new places and explore. We don't do it as much because 1, of the gas prices. And 2, sometimes it's really complicated with Kristopher along. He always needs to know where we are going, what we can do there, and if we change it up last minute, he is all annoyed. So we tend to check places out first so there is not the disappointment.

a little more on yesterday
Yesterday really was not a good day. Mentally or in general. But it IS over, so I will recap my appt.
First I had the weight check and found out I've lost just about 2 pounds. That was nice seeing how I have not left the Easter candy alone.
Next they started bloodwork. A lot of baseline/fasting tubes, then I had to drink the nasty orange drink to do a glucose test. Blood taken every half hour for 2 hours. After that was all over, I got a snack to recover from losing what felt like half the blood in my body.
Next I had a scan which checked bone density. Apparently that is something else that we with PCOS have to worry about. It was pretty boring and lasted about 10 mins.
The final test was a fitness treadmill test. I lasted about half way and felt very weak and decided to stop. I felt stupid because it was only 15 mins on the thing. But I had not eaten much, it was almost lunch time at that point, and it was very awkward. I had to wear a thing to track heart rate and a bp cuff, while getting that checked every 5 minutes. The entire time I had them on either side of me watching every detail. Basically, I felt like a cow on display.
But, I still passed the fitness part and am claimed physically ok to exercise.
My requirements are to exercise for 3 10 min slots per week, eat a 1000-1200 calorie diet and a goal of losing 10% of my weight in 16 weeks. When I do this on my own, I do more than 10 min of exercise and was doing at least 5 days a week. Maybe I was burning myself out with it. I have set myself a personal goal of at least 4 days of 30 min on the elliptical and whatever extra exercise I can fit in. I think if I stick to it I can easily pass their goal.

And I'm in & other updates
I've passed all my tests and I'm officially in this study thing again. In the group that is just diet & exercise because I lucked out and my bmi was low enough that I can't get the diet pill. I'm fine with that. I know if I put the time and effort into things, I can lose the weight with dieting and exercising for real. And, I've already lost 2lbs since the last visit. That's even with the Easter candy drama.
Mentally things have not been good here. I feel very alone and feel like I have no one to talk to. So while I am avoiding the rest of the world right now, the blog makes me feel like I am not totally alone. But still, it helps to have a real person to talk to when things aren't going your way. I'm sick of the computer being the only means of adult interaction (minus my husband and the kids' parents when I babysit)
So for now, I'm going to do my own thing. I'm trying to keep busy, and stay off the computer. This is the first I've had it on since the weekend, other than a quick check on something on Monday. I only really turned it on to log this, and to email the final info to the study. So those of you that read this, that keep in touch with me by email/chat/whatever, I'm dealing in my own way with my own issues and I am just a crappy friend right now. And to be honest, I'm always more than willing to help people out, and go out of my way to be there for them when they need it. But the few times I actually reach out, people are not there. I'm just so tired with everything. I've realized the only person who can help me is me. I'm giving this all I have. The diet starts tomorrow. The exercise starts tomorrow. Less lazy and more crazy. But good kind of crazy. I have a giant list of things I want to accomplish, and things I've put off for a while.
Change is good. It's time to be more positive and get over this blah phase.
And in happier news, Kristopher made it the entire month of April with no warnings or bad behavior at school. He gets to participate in a special pizza party, and we rewarded him here too. His new goal is to make it thru the end of the year with the same, and I need to think up a really good reward if he makes it. He's trying so hard and it's amazing how much school has changed him. He's playing his final year of t-ball right now, listens and focuses when needed, and I've heard him telling other kids what is expected. Not in a bossy way, but to try to keep them from getting into trouble.
And with reading class, he's moved up to chapter books. Which is pretty awesome. I can't believe school is almost over and that it's almost summer.
So that's the update here. I plan to track this the same as I did the other one, and hopefully blog more. Gotta clear my mind somehow. I felt better last time I did this more regularly.
