Pneumonia

Is the diagnosis. We went to the doctor last night, and they sent us home with an rx and said that since allergy meds are not clearing it up, that we will give this a try in case it's something missed and bacterial. He had a low grade fever and was clearly not like himself at all. He curled up and just watched tv last night. Skipped supper, barely drank anything, and was in bed early. Slept all night long with mild coughing, and it took me several tries to get him awake this morning.
Once awake, he said he wasn't hungry for breakfast. He wouldn't drink anything, and was looking very rough. He insisted he wanted to go to school, and tried to finish his homework that we skipped last night. While standing, he started to shake and got all wobbily. So, I told him to sit down, and when he turned to do so, he started falling into things. His face was very white and his lips were same. I helped him over to the couch and he was tripping and so unstable. After he laid down, he was ok. I tried to get him to drink water and he refused it. So I called Dennis and got him to come home. The kids just arrived so I had their mom call off, and said we were taking him to the ER. While rushing around to get ready to go, I had him drink a juice box. It took him about 45 mins to drink it, and typical for him is in 5 mins. Tops. So, when Dennis got home, he had to carry him to the car because he was still shakey and unstable, and very pale. We skipped the local hospital and took him straight to the one that has a children's hopsital. It does not have a children's ER but the staff was amazing. We had absolutely no wait time, registered and back to a room, and testing started very quickly. He had a sugar check, urine test, EKG, and chest xray. Urine showed that he was starting to become dehydrated, blood sugar was kinda low, and EKG was fine. Chest x-ray however shows he has pneumonia. And enough that 3 seperate people in the room could hear it when listening to the lungs. It's only on the right side, and definitely did not just start. I believe it was missed when we were seen at the local place. I'm highly upset.
So he had crackers and apple juice and got all hyper so we were released. We need to push fluids, make him eat for meds, and if he is fever free still tomorrow, he can go back to school with no restrictions. Follow up is next Wednesday or sooner if no improvement. He's already acting a lot better and he's carrying around a drink everywhere.
So that's our update. I'm exhausted and very distracted so I'll leave it at that.
