Is a freak of nature apparently. This morning I was up very early because the kids came early. They were still really tired, so I got them back to bed and I laid down. Shortly after I drifted off, Kristopher wakes up shrieking "I lost a tooth! The tooth fairy is going to come again!!" Then says "ohhh and it's one I shouldn't lose yet! It's huge!" So of course, I freak out. Go running and see that yes, it was huge, and it was a molar. I called the dentist and they wanted to see him asap because that tooth should not have been lost till at least 11-12 yrs old. And I could see white in the hole where the tooth came from. We didn't know if it was broken in there, or what was going on.
So, we wake up the babies, rush to get out the door, and go to the dentist. They attempted xrays which were not happening because his mouth was too little for that type, and he was about to barf if they would have kept shoving it in there.
Long story short, it's his top 6 yr molar coming in, and it shoved what was the 2 yr molar out of the way. I don't know what exactly this is going to mean, other than they aren't too concerned yet, and his chart is marked and they are going to keep watching closely. For me, I had issues with spacing and not all my teeth came in properly. I had a messed up mouth and had braces for a long time. We already know that Kristopher will be needing braces as soon as these 6 yr molars are all the way in, because he has an underbite. I'm thinking there may be a spacing issue as well now too......I hope not, but only time will tell I guess.
Apparently it is truly not common at all, because the office staff was making a big deal and asking to see it as well.
What does Kristopher think? Well he thinks that it is very cool. And he's excited about the tooth fairy coming again. Me....I'm just exhausted at this point.....
He will have something to show off when he starts school!
ReplyDeleteBraces suck, but a good smile is worth it. I only had to wear them for a couple of years, but I had a permanent retainer until I was ~21 and the stupid thing finally broke. But I do feel bad for the kids that have to start young and keep getting them for years, phase after phase... that's a lot of pain for a kid to deal with.
He's just growing up too quickly.
