Vomit

In my opinion, the worst part of being a parent is when your child is sick. Especially vomit. Before I was a mother, I could not stand to even hear someone else vomit without my gagging starting and ending in the same. Even when I had the really bad morning sickness, I kept going as long as I saw it.
Anyway, my little man is sick. In his 5.5 yrs of life, he's only had 2 other times that he had the barfing type sickness. And the last was well over a year ago so he was very confused when it hit last night. I'm not sure if this is part of the left over stomach bug we had going on a few weeks ago, or if it is food related because we were out to eat twice this past weekend. He lived on way too much junk in the past 3 days due to us being on the go and very busy, and I think it finally got to him. So last night, I just got in the shower and Dennis was putting him to bed. I heard a weird cough, and then heard running. Dennis had just left the room from putting him to bed. He apparently just shut our bedroom door and he heard a cough, then the cough followed by that unmistakable sound of vomit hitting the floor. And since he doesn't know what to do about stuff like this, he stood there frozen while it kept coming up. Poor kid. And I must say, I'm so thankful that my husband was here to help with that because it was so nasty and disgusting. He cleaned up the most of it without even flinching and I took care of carpet cleaning.
After I got the room back in order, we had him go back to bed and he started with about every 20-40 mins from 9pm till at least 2:30am till there wasn't anything left. Towards the end it was happening in his sleep because he was that worn out. I felt horrible for him and the fact that there wasn't anything I could do to ease it any. He kept crying that he just wants it to stop, and that he doesn't know why it happened.
Today he isn't even asking about food and ate like one small piece of jello. He's drinking fine and just laying around. No other belly related issues. He also fell asleep 3 times so far today. He's insisting on staying up like we had planned for over a week now because there is a new show on at 8pm that he really wants to see. As of right now, he's been asleep on the couch for over an hour. I don't think he's going to see that show.

  1. Ah, poor kid. Puking is tough and no fun for anyone. Hopefully it passes soon.
