Again

I feel with my blog, I'm a lot more organized and documented with things going on. So, for my records again, Zoey is sick.
Now, I'm not 100% sure that this time was some fluke thing. She was bad yesterday and stood up at the table after the kids were done eating. The little girl I babysit is only 16 months old, so of course some things end up on the floor. I limit the amount of time that the dog is allowed out while we are eating, and she has to stay away from the table. When I get the baby down, I always make sure the floor is clear and so is her booster seat because Zoey can reach that. However, yesterday the other baby was fussing, so I didn't clear the table completely. There was a few bites of chicken on the plate still, and it was close to the edge of the table. Fast forward to this morning. Zoey is hairy, and I'm slacking in the grooming department. So when she has diarrhea, she needs cleaned up a little or else that could just be very nasty for the carpet or anywhere she decides to sit down at. The wipes had what appeared to be the seasoning from marinade. So, the only way she got that chicken was if she stole it from the table. That would mean she is BAD. And I do remember, when I came back out to the kitchen last night, she was raised up near the table, sniffing. I never thought she could reach that far so thought nothing of that till the diarrhea started at 2am.
So, Zoey starts steroids today. She is to stay on her normal food and mix in a little pasta instead of switching her to a totally bland diet again. I switched her food to California Naturals a few months back, and it's suppose to be the best for dogs with food allergies and sensitive stomachs, so both the vet and I agree, there is no point in taking her off that for a week or 2 and making special meals for her. The steroids will help with this if it's doggy IBS. All her tests are totally normal, so that's what it has to be. We will also have more of her diarrhea meds on hand, and a back up bottle of antibiotics for if it doesn't get much better.
She's acting more normal this time and it's not quite as frequently as it was in the past, so I'm pretty sure it's just because she was a bad doggy. I guess I might have to invest in some baby gates again and keep her gated from the kitchen if she can't behave herself.
And I will also add that having baby wipes on hand has helped a ton with cleaning her up. And she smells better too. Now I just have to replace those wipes before Monday.....oops.
