Well....we survived the first day of school. He loved it, and had no issues with going. He settled right in and says he had a great day. His only complaint was they served peas with his lunch, and peas are not a hit with him.
I did ok while we were getting ready. The walk was a little sad, but I kept my cool. I even did great in the classroom. There was a few times while watching him that I felt the tears, but I fought them back. When we left, I did fine and was distracted with the other 2 along. And my wonderful husband came along which turned out to be a huge help because they had the kids doing a scavenger hunt with a parent, and I had the 2 little people along. So anyway, he was along to help and that kept me from losing it on the walk home. I did great after he left even. What did me in? The pictures. I loaded the pictures and it just all let go. Then, little miss D started to miss her buddy. She kept yelling for Gerrrrr?! (what she calls Kristopher) and she would run from the steps, yelling up for him, then to the kitchen to see if he was out there, and back again. It was really sad. After many times explaining that Kristopher was at school, he went bye byes, she decided to grab her shoes and try to go too. Ended in a total fit because we couldn't just go get him. So that was heart breaking too.
While the babies napped, the house was so so soooo quiet. Too quiet. I don't know how I'd be able to do it if it wasn't for the extra kids around now. The day seemed to seriously drag. Then finally, it was 2:30 and we got to pick him up. He was excited to tell me all about the day and miss D attacked him and hugged him over and over. After we got home, she was so happy that I got her "Gerrr" that she kept hugging and kissing us.
School wore Kristopher out and he was a lot calmer for the afternoon and evening. He got to call and tell lots of people about his day and then finally got sick of all the attention behind it.
His school does a staggered start to kindergarten, so he is off the next 2 days. Thursday he goes back and will finally be in with the full classroom. He is looking forward to it and today says it's taking too long. For me, these 2 days will be a nice way to ease me into the new normal.
So, enjoy some pics. For those of you on facebook, you've seen them before, plus some. There's several good ones that I've decided not to put on publicly, so if you haven't seen them on facebook, check them out later!
Here's the pics!
I'm glad his first day went well. I love the last pic where he is getting peeved at you!
