Ok, so I've been missing for a while again. Things are so crazy around here. Long story short, my 85 yr old great-grandma (who has been there more than my actual grandmother) had a stroke. We noticed for the past week and half she's been acting quiet, which typically meant she was mad at us. But never all 3 of us (me, my mom and my mom's real mother) at the same time. We noticed a lot of scary issues and forgetfulness. Confusion and worried us so my grandmother took her to the dr and we assumed it was Alzheimer's. She was scheduled for tests Friday and next week. Instead, she shows up at my house Wednesday mid morning, confused and insisting she had an appt, and acting like it was 2-3 yrs ago. I called my mom, who called her mother and by 4pm she was in the ER for "testing that can't wait". She got admitted and Thursday morning we found out it was a stroke. Mild, but enough that she is weak and not herself. She however is mad that she is still in there, and has been wanting to come home. I have been going non stop since Wednesday. Mowed for her Wednesday. Spent till midnight at the hospital. Babysitting part of thursday, and back to the hospital for about 6 hrs. Then babysitting today, trying to catch up here, back to the hospital tonight. Oh and I've been over to take in her newspaper every morning bc of the chance of rain. And picking strawberries. I am EXHAUSTED.
In good news, she might be released tomorrow, and is still able to live alone. We will just check in on her a lot more frequently than we had been. She will probably need more help and no longer allowed to drive. I think she will listen because of the risk of being stuck back in that hospital.
In other news, Wednesday was suppose to be t-ball picture day. I decided I was only doing a team shot, and the rest would be done by myself. I can capture the "true" Kristopher better than his fake pose for the camera dude. After 20 or so shots, I got one I was very happy with......Saved myself a lot of money, and got a much nicer picture. I printed a few today and I'm really happy with it.

So now I'm off to bed, so I can start another crazy day.
Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. It is good that you were so proactive and she got a correct diagnosis before something worse happened.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your little man is so darned handsome!
I would have never guessed a stroke if that were my grandma... I didn't know that they could cause behavior like that. Sorry to hear the news. Sounds like you are really running your tail off trying to help out. Illnesses can be very hard on family members so try to get as much help as you can.
ReplyDeleteK looks really cute, your picture looks really good.
