The library

Kristopher is obsessed with the library since we moved. We've been going several times a week, and he gets at least 3 books at a time. He has a project with school that we are suppose to read him 17 books per month and he is 3 away from filling the sheet. And since he can already read, he is reading those books to us. He is so excited that by tomorrow night, his "homework" is finished. I find it sad though because there was a reminder today about how they have a little under 2 weeks to finish those 17 books, and some kids are not even close. We read daily, and several books at that. We've read to him since he was very young, and maybe that has to do with why he is so into them and can read so well. Either way, he's done way ahead of time.

So we were at the library the other night and it was really busy. There was a lady who was yelling at her kid, who was throwing world's greatest fit about who knows what. The kid was on the floor and refusing to move and she kept hissing "Christopher! That's it. That is it! We are leaving the libary. That's it! You are never coming back to the libary again!" Well, Kristopher was a bit panicked at first looking to see why some stranger is yelling his name, and worried that he is banned because on the way up, he forgot his "library voice". Then when he realized it was a different kid with the same name, he got more annoyed because the mother wasn't saying it right. He says to me that it's not called a "wibary, it's called the WibRary!!" I about died because he was so upset over the "berry" part of things and he still can not pronounce his L's.
Just one of those things that I have to make sure is documented for when he is bigger and it's not a Wibrary anymore......

  1. That's so great that he is such a good reader. I was a slow reader... a good reader, but a slow one. I ended up getting tested in college and it and the researcher that administered my testing opinion was that I probably had dyslexia as a child and was able to overcome it but it I still had several trademarks of it. (And shortly after that a class action law suit got filed against my school district specifically because they had failed to recognize and provide assistance with dyslexia for other circa my age.) I'm pretty sure my dad is dyslexic and I'm a little worried that Michael will get it from me too. So I was a miserable reader until about 3rd grade so that and with both of my parents working long hours when I was a kid, I probably would need all that time to finish the assignment.
